Gastrointestinal Diseases
✨Gastrointestinal diseases affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract from the mouth to the anus. There are two types: functional and structural.
Functional Disorders
In this type the GI structure appears normal,with impaired functionality with or motility.
Examples of functional GI disorders:
- Paralytic ilues
- Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)
- Constipation
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
Structural Disorders
There are visible physical abnormalities, inflammation, obstruction, or organ damage. Structural disorders can be classified onto:
- Obstructive/mechanical
- Intussusception
- Bowel Obstruction
- Inflammatory / Infectious
- Crohn’s Disease
- Ulcerative Colitis
- Diverticulitis
- Appendicitis
- Peritonitis
- Gallbladder Disorders
